STRENGTHENING OF UNIVERSITY OF ENGINEERING & TECHNOLOGY, LAHORE

MONITORING, EVALUATION & INSPECTION OF PSDP (STRENGTHENING OF UNIVERSITY OF ENGINEERING & TECHNOLOGY, LAHORE)

 

On the orders of Prime Minister’s directives, the Chairman PMIC constituted a PM Inspection Team (PMIT) to inspect the project titled “Strengthening of University of Engineering & Technology (UET), Lahore” as per ToRs assigned, which was sponsored by Higher Education Commission (HEC) and being executed by UET, Lahore.

 

The summary and detailed report furnished to PM’s Office after incorporating the views and comments of M/o Federal Education & Professional Training on the findings & recommendations of PMIC, was approved by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of Pakistan. Accordingly, the same was forwarded to M/o Federal Education & Professional Training / HEC and Planning, Development & Special Initiative Division for implementation.

PMIC through M/o Federal Education & Professional Training / HEC takes pride and bring on record the progress achieved on the recommendations made by PMIC as communicated by HEC vide letter dated 06.12.2022, is summarized below:

* Revised PC-I of the project is under consideration by Planning Commission and being perused for approval by HEC.

* The University has learnt a lesson and included dedicated Project Management Unit (PMU) and Consultants in the later development projects awarded to the UET and its sub-campuses.

* An amount of Rs. 106 million has been recovered from absconders. Furthermore, Registrar Office has approached the Deputy Commissioner Office / Revenue Office for recovery from 15 absconders, who did not respond to the university under section 38-A of the UET, Lahore Act 1974.

* The faculty members have been relieved from additional duties / charge of Director Projects, for continuing development projects.

* The Special Audit of the project is under-process.

* The concerns on various irregularities, identified by PMIC, occurred during execution of the project have been referred to the Syndicate to dispose them off as per University rules / regulations.
